E-waste is the term used to describe old, end-of-life or discarded electrical appliances. This includes: computers, consumer electronics, monitors, TV’s, printers, photocopiers, which have been disposed of by their original users.

CReW is the only e-waste recycler in the Whakatane area/Eastern Bay of Plenty.

CReW accepts all manner of e-waste some of which is dissembled and recycled on site. Items which we can’t recycle locally are collected, sorted and prepared for freighting up to Auckland. Our charges cover our time, the freight to Auckland and the cost of recycling in Auckland.

There the items (many of which are televisions, monitors and printers) are disassembled by hand. As many components are recycled as possible, before disposing of any parts that can’t currently be recycled.

Many components are made from important resources so recycling can recover valuable materials while disposing of hazardous waste in the most environmentally responsible way currently available in New Zealand.

Why choose an environmental option?

Electronic scrap components, such as: CPUs, TVs, computer towers, printers, may contain contaminants such as lead, cadmium, beryllium or brominated flame retardants which are harmful to the environment when diverted to landfills.
