About our Mission

It all started when…

Something needed to change……. for our environment and how we are disposing of our waste into the landfills.

CreW has been helping to reduce waste going into the landfill for many years by reselling reusable items to the community form our shop in Te Tahi Street, Whakatane.

CreW believes in the importance of saving our environment and the important of sustainability.

Crew is now expanding with the support of the Whakatane District Council and the Ministry for the Environment, to help divert construction, building and demolition waste from entering the landfill in Whakatane. This reduces the use of resources and energy to create new products.

It is estimated that waste from construction and demolition, makes up around half of all waste that enters our landfills. On average, building one new home creates four tonnes of waste, most of which can be reused. This is a huge waste of resources, materials and energy.

For the companies providing construction and demolition work, this will be an advantage, by not having to pay large dumping fee for large amounts of waste on site. We hope that they like us will feel the sustainable benefits for our environment and community, by diverting reusable waste from our landfill.

So, it has become our mission to help minimise this waste by offering a pick-up service around our area for these materials. We want to offer materials for home DIY's etc. to purchase for their own projects.
